Forest ministry lifts ban on company to collect resin

Kathmandu, Dec 25: The Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation has lifted a ban on a company to collect and supply resin, upholding the verdict of the Supreme Court on the case.

The ministry on Saturday decided to this effect upholding the court verdict issued on May 30 that asked the ministry not to obstruct the collection and supply of resin as per the agreement with the writ applicant until the case final decision is out, on the ground that the evidences made public by the ministry were baseless.

The court responded to a case filed by the Himal Rosin and Turpentine Herbs Processing Private Limited, saying the Cabinet meeting held on May 12, 2014 granted permission to Dibya Rosin and Turpentine Private Limited in violation of the agreement reached with it earlier allowing for collection of resin for five years.
